No, it turns out the weather is sunny and fine at the Mount and the other side of the ranges I will be flying over.
One of the other students, Lovet, completed his first solo today, it has been a long time coming for him so a great achievment. Also we see here the lord and master (and wife) administering some oil, and a large swarm of ants took a liking to the wing as a mating ground. Still.. they were shortly to be blown away by my trip over the hills.
The flight left Tauranga on an approximate Southwest heading, went over the hills, above Putararu and Tokoroa, then returned. The exercise was mostly about map reading, trying to associate map markers with what was on the ground. What a great day’s flying, this is what it’s all about for me, getting from A to B. Following the cross country was some more circuits, further practise on the new a/c type.
Monday is closed day for the flight school, and it’s raining, which is a happy coincidence. I hope the rain clears off for tomorrow, as I am scheduled for a few more circuits, and for my first solo cross country. I can’t wait!
The last picture, we went to see a friend do a tandem skydive, and some Portuguese tourists get ready to hurl themselves out of a plane! No thanks.
