A great day, for the first time I have been out of the control zone solo, to the Southwest, flying over Putararu and Tokoroa. At last! Now I can move on to the next cross country which is Hamilton and Te Kuiti, a bit further afield. These next ones will actually be touchdowns so a little more involved.
By default it is a dual run first, then a solo, with the destinations in reverse order. Again it’s weather dependent, so I am hopeful more flying straight away, perhaps even two cross-countries in one day.

Also we see here some vintage “YAC” planes which put on an air display, over Tauranga harbour. It was to promote some raceboat event that was going on.

After the day’s flying, a trip to “beats on the beach” at Papamoa, which was a great way to spend a couple of hours, followed by a restaurant dinner at the downtown Mount.

Technical: 1.1 hrs solo, cross-country
