It’s hot.. it’s hot… it’s very hot.
Departing for the aerodrome it’s a nice sunny morning. Two sessions today, to complete the five hours of instrumentation necessary for a New Zealand PPL. Which is an extra that is not required for other countries’ PPLs I might add, such as a UK one. Another reason why a New Zealand PPL is considerd one of the better (and slightly harder) ones to get!
The variation this time was “unusual attitude”, which involves closing ones eyes while the instructor sets the plane in a variety of gain / descent / bank combinations and you have to recover. The spiral dive is especially fun! All while wearing the fashionable lampshade which blocks the view out the windows, so the only view is your instruments. All great stuff.. luckily my body has adjusted to the motion otherwise my sandwich might have returned to visit us in the cockpit.
I passed the English exam, 6 out of 6 for all aspects. Though being a New Zealander I was expecting a “2” for Vocabulary.

So it’s time to move on from instrumentation. Next up if all goes to plan it’s short field takeoff and landings, and low flying. My first cross-country is pencilled in for Sunday – here’s hoping.
