When I was there back in June, Brit Clive was hard at work on is CPL. He’s now passed, went back to the UK, resigned from the army, and brought the family to the Mount to live, while he works on his instructor rating. Word is his sons are enjoying the new location and becoming familiar with a surfboard.
There have been other changes afoot, the two Cessna 150s have been put out to pasture, and replaced by two Jaribus. I took a flight for an introduction to the new planes. So different! From left hand steer to right hand. From right hand throttle to left hand. From foot brake to handbrake. And a dozen other small changes.
The most welcome change though, heaps more grunt. Applying full throttle is quite an experience! I want more.
So just a few drills and circuits to start with to familiarise with it. It will take a while to get along with it but overall a much smoother operator.
And, what jaunt around the skies would be complete without a trip to the beach afterwards, and a dip in the sea. Though the water is a bit cool, temperatures should rise over the next few days.
