First up was more Forced Landings Without Power. Then on to the thriller known as steep turns. These are controlled 45-degree turns. During the brief, 45-degrees didn’t sound like an awful lot. Then when I got up and found my stomach moving over my shoulder into the back of the plane somewhere I realised that is actually quite steep, and 1.4G according to my book.
And lucky me, the instructor demonstrated a maximum-rate turn of 60-degrees, which is 2G.
After two sessions of multiple-steep-turns, totalling over two hours, my motion-sickness resilience was truly put to the test. In fact I am feeling a little queasy now, a few hours later!
Who needs to go to a theme park, this beats any roller coaster!
