Small celebration
From sun..
To thunderstorms
Puppy love

A small celebration of the solo around at Mark and Melanas place, with NZ’s finest (and cheapest) pretend champagne, Lindauer. Heavy rain, thunder and lightning outside implied it would not be the greatest flying weather tomorrow. The school, anticipating bad weather, arranged to have some in-house Meteo learnin’. After getting up in the middle of the night to get to the flight school for 9am, the magic Mount turned out to defy all weather forecasts and come out sunny. I managed to get some flying in, and also plenty of Met learning. The sun disappeared at the end of the day in the grey weather photo, and a huge thunderstorm rolled in.

Well done Anita who had the unenviable job of teaching myself and Steve themes such as pressure gradients, dinural variation of surface air temperatures, coriolis forces and the snappily titled “saturated adiabatic lapse rates”. It’s only when you compare them to environment lapse rates that it becomes meaningful you know! My brian is full from stuffing in so much information.. 7 of 19 chapters out of the way though, the end is in sight. The end being the Met exam on Tuesday.

The forecast is looking up from tomorrow, so I am looking forward to a Sunday of more flying!

In that last photo I suspect there is a bit of bestiality going on. Where does the law draw the line. Can a man legally kiss his own dog? Are the rules different for Yorkshire men? Yorkshire dogs?

Technical: Dual 0.8 hours, solo 0.6 hours.
